Farewell, Arrival and the first days

Hey guys! :D

The first day in Japan is ending and I'm so tired.
In the morning I had to say Goodbye to my parents and my sister at the airport in Frankfurt, of course everybody was crying (it was so sad ;_;)... About one o' clock in the afternoon the boarding started and we could finally enter the airplane, which brought us to Japan. Of course we were the loudest people at the whole airport, but everybody was too excited to be quiet. ^ ^" But we had a lot of fun and the sadness about leaving Germany was gone. After about 11 exhausting hours (I didn't sleep at all ._.) in the plane we finally arrived at about 8 o' clock in the morning in Tokyo Narita. After passing the entry check we got our Aliencards, which is basically an ID for foreigners here in Japan. Because some of us had to wait really long to get their  ID cards we stayed a long time near the baggage carousel and picked up all suitcases from our fellow AFS students. We also met a AFS student from Portugal at our way to the entry check, apparently she was with us in the same plane and we didn't notice. After we all went through the entry check and through costums we finally met the Japanese AFS volunteers. Before we could go to the youth hostel (the "National Olympics Memorial Youth Center") we had to wait for some other exchange students (we waited for five hours ;_;). But it was still super fun with all the exchange students and -again- we were the loudest group there. :D About 2:30 in the afternoon we could finally get in the bus to the youth hostel. Everbody wanted to look out of the windows, but almost all of us fell asleep immediately. Once we arrived at the youth hostel it was already 4 in the afternoon. Plenty of us were tired and it was too hot and humid for any movement. Anyway we ate dinner together in the evening (meat, nuts and onions with sauce, salad and rice) and it was really good for youth hostel food. :D After dinner we had the first meeting, which was called "Japanese Culture", we danced, folded Origami and tried to wear Yukata (I still think this was something to keep us awake :D). After this we went to the Ofuro and took a bath and some of us waited for the other exchange students (for example from the US or the Netherlands) which arrived about 11 o' clock (I think... I was sleeping :D).

The second day is also over and tomorrow we will meet our host families! I'm totally not ready for this... But I think I would never be ready for this. ^ ^" I'm more worried about the fact that I have to go to school on monday, without a break. Anyway today we had to wake up at 7 o' clock (I really really hate waking up this early x.x)... After the breakfast we had some meetings. First there was an Opening ceremony with some speeches from AFS volunteers. After the ceremony we got some information about Japan and the mobile phone, AFS will give us. After lunch there were a few meetings (about our host families and Japanese culture and stuff) and we got some information about our departure from Tokyo tomorrow. After dinner there was a talent show and the ending ceremony. Some AFS volunteers gave a speech and we sang a song together (I think it was an AFS song or something ^ ^").

Today we also had to wake up at 7 and clean up our room. :x After breakfast we had some time left so we just talked a bit. ^ ^ Soon we had to say Goodbye to the other people, who wouldn't come to Haneda Airport with us. After we arrived in Haneda I also had to say Goodbye to the other people and me and another girl from the Netherlands went to our gate. About 12 o' clock we could enter the airplane and about 1:45 in the afternoon we arrived in Miyazaki. Our host families picked us up at the airport... I was already super nervous at the plane and when we arrived at the airport I was almost dead. ^ ^"
But my host family is -of course- super nice and friendly, but the communication is still super hard. ^ ^"
My host mother, my host brother and my host sister welcomed me at the airport and we went to a shrine near the sea. The sea and the shrine were so beautiful! *-* When we arrived at home I met my host father, everybody is super nice here! The parents from my host mother are living in the house next to us, so we visited them too. After this we just ate dinner and then I went to bed, because I was super tired... It's very hot and humid here, today were about 38°C at the sea and my room is super hot... But I have a fan, so it's okay! :D

1. Schultag

Heute war also mein erster Schultag und, selbstverständlich, war ich super nervös und aufgeregt. Ich musste schon um sechs Uhr aufstehen (wie auch in Deutschland ;_;)… Nach dem Frühstück packten wir noch meine Tasche mit allen wichtigen und unwichtigen Dingen zusammen (außer mein Handy natürlich, das ist in der Schule verboten) und dann fuhren wir auch schon mit dem Auto zur Schule (ein Hoch auf den Regen ^ ^“). Eines muss ich sagen, die Schuluniform ist verdammt unbequem und warm, ich hoffe einfach mal, dass ich mich irgendwann daran gewöhne (alle anderen schaffen es ja auch ^ ^")… Als wir dann in der Schule angekommen sind, sagten sie mir, dass ich erst nächste Woche richtig in den Unterricht gehen sollte, was sich allerdings im Laufe des Tages doch noch änderte und so soll ich Morgen schon in den Unterricht. Dann habe ich also ab Morgen richtigen Unterricht und damit jeden Tag Sport… Prinzipiell hätte ich ja nichts dagegen, aber nicht bei diesen Temperaturen! Mir ist schon beim Rumsitzen und Nichtstun zu warm, besonders in der Sporthalle, die ist einfach nur stickig und warm (weil man ja noch ein Shirt unter die Bluse ziehen muss und das auch beim Sport, Schulregeln sind Schulregeln :D). ._. Es ist wirklich verdammt warm hier! :x Jedenfalls nachdem noch ein paar Höflichkeitsfloskeln ausgetauscht wurden sind, ging meine Gastmutter nach Hause und ich sollte in der Bibliothek Japanisch lernen (eigentlich war am Anfang ja angedacht gewesen, dass ich dort den ganzen Tag bin, aber dass hatte sich dann schnell geändert), nach vielleicht einer halben Stunde kam meine Gastmutter dann doch wieder und brachte meine, zu Hause vergessenen, Sport- und meine Hausschuhe in die Schule. Dann gingen wir noch schnell zum Fotografen und machten Passbilder für den Schülerausweis (die tollen Biometrischen ^ ^"). Dann dachte ich, dass ich wieder in der Bibliothek lernen soll, aber aus irgendeinem Grund war dort eine erste Klasse (also eine 10. Klasse in Deutschland) drinne, also wurde ich einfach dazugesetzt. :D Das fanden alle natürlich schon ganz cool und haben ihr Englisch an mir ausprobiert. Erstaunlicherweise klappte das mit der Kommunikation sogar ganz gut, so ein Mix aus Japanisch und Englisch. Wir haben natürlich nur über die wirklich wichtigen Dinge des Lebens diskutiert: Essen und ob ich einen Freund habe (ich habe versucht, ihnen Milchreis zu erklären, hat nicht so ganz geklappt ^ ^"). Da in der Schule striktes Handyverbot gilt, hatte ich meins natürlich nicht mit (bin doch eine artige Schülerin) und konnte ihnen auch meine Handynummer nicht geben, als sie fragten. ^ ^" Nach diesem Unterricht hat mich ein Lehrer (ich sollte seinen Namen kennen, habe ihn aber leider vergessen, es sind einfach zu viele Namen auf einmal ^ ^") einfach mit zu seinem Unterricht genommen und so sind wir zusammen in die Sporthalle gegangen. Dieses Wochenende ist nämlich Schul-und Sportfestival, deswegen proben die hier alle die ganze Zeit. Ich habe ihnen also bei den Proben für einen wirklich lustigen Tanz zugesehen (scheinbar müssen den alle Schüler beim Sportfestival aufführen :D). Danach habe ich schon mal ein paar meiner Bücher bekommen (das Englischbuch heißt Unicorn ❤). Zum Mittag bin ich dann zu Molly, eine Art "Austauschlehrerin" gegangen. Sie ist aus den Staaten und unterrichtet hier einige Klassen Englisch. Nach dem Mittag war dann Putzen angesagt und wir beide fühlten uns ein wenig nutzlos und standen einfach nur mit dem Besen da (aber dank uns und einigen anderen Schülern, war der Raum danach sauberer :D). Gegen 16 Uhr ist dann auch meine Gastmutter mich abholen gekommen und wir sind - ganz unspektakulär - nach Hause gefahren.

Das war auch eigentlich schon mein erster Schultag... Bilder und so kommen noch, ich gehe jetzt erstmal schlafen, ich bin hier chronisch müde ._.

Host family!

Hello guys!

I have great news to share with you! I got some information about my host family and my host school a couple days ago. 
I will live in Miyakonojō-shi, on Kyūshū! The city has about 165.000 inhabitants so it's about three times bigger than my hometown. I think I will get lost a lot... :D
I have a host mother, a host father, a host sister (11 years) and a host brother (15 years). Unfortunately they don't have any pets, but I have an own room (I'm so happy about this)!
Obviously I won't share any pictures or further information about my host family with you all, because I want to respect their privacy.
I also have a host school, which is (according to Google Maps) only about 15 minutes by foot away from my new home. I'm pretty happy about this because so I don't have to ride a bike to school (I'm a bit scared about using a bike in Japan), nor I have to pay for public transport.
My school is a normal public high school, with 683 pupils, 321 boys and 362 girls. When I arrive there the summer vacation is already over, so I will start school right when I arrive.
My winter vacation is from December 23rd to January 6th and my spring vacation is from March 24th to April 7th.
I already have a list with all the school clubs, but I'm not sure which I will choose (but I'm sure I have to do the English-Club :D).
We will also make a class trip to Tokyo and we will visit Disneyland! *cheer* I'm looking forward to this trip! :3
It seems like my school will also host another exchange student but I don't have any information about this yet...
But my host family told me that there is a meeting with my host school in the end of June, so they will get more information! I'm really excited to find out more about my host school. :D
